Biodiversity Policy & Practice is a knowledge management project for international negotiations and related activities addressing international biodiversity policy. It was launched by the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) Reporting Services in October 2010, during the 10th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 10) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). IISD RS manages and is fully responsible for the content posted on Biodiversity Policy & Practice . Subject: Join CEPF at the World Parks Congress
Hi everyone,

The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) brings together visionary donors to support civil society to improve biodiversity in the most threatened areas of the world.

To date, CEPF has supported more than 1,900 civil society grantee partners in more than 80 countries and territories for projects that not only implement CEPF's conservation strategies, but that have also established 13 million hectares of new or expanded protected areas and improved management of an additional 35 million hectares of globally important lands.

CEPF is pleased to be a participant at the IUCN World Parks Congress 2014 in Sydney, Australia, from November 12-19.

Our activities at the Congress include:

November 15, "Small Grants Mechanism Day." This is a three-part event hosted at the Conservation Finance Pavilion from 7:00am-8:30pm.

November 15, 5:30-7:00pm, "Buy One, Get One Free." This event on from 5:30-7:00pm (Hub Room 2, Corner Sydney Showground & Murray Rose Ave) will feature the launch of the summary strategy for the Great Lakes in East and Central Africa.

November 16, 7:00-9:30pm, "35 Wonders of the World Exhibition." A cocktail reception from 7:00-9:30pm hosted by the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney and Domain Trust, in partnership with CEPF and l'Agence Française de Développement, to celebrate the opening of the 35 Wonders of the World, an exhibition of images from biodiversity hotspots by some of the world's premier nature photographers.

November 18, 12:00-1:30pm, "Mediterranean Landscape: Financing approaches for marine conservation." A panel discussion hosted by MedPAN at the Conservation Finance Pavilion from 12:00-1:30pm.

You can learn more about CEPF and see invitations for the above events on our website: http://www.cepf.net/resources/Pages/downloads.aspx

Subject: WCS And the World Parks Congress

Dear Colleagues,

The IUCN World Parks Congress has arrived (Nov. 12-19, Sydney Australia)
and WCS (the Wildlife Conservation Society) will have a strong presence
advocating for protected areas and other solutions to saving the world's
biodiversity.

To follow WCS news, check in here: wpc.wcs.org There, you can also review
bios of our staff and links to key WCS publications on WPC themes.

To follow WCS activities in real-time, follow: @TheWCS. We encourage
retweets.

Our initial release for the congress is pivotal to understanding the state
of protected areas:
The release focuses on a paper in Nature. The paper's premise: A
fundamental step-change involving an increase in funding and political
commitment is urgently needed to ensure that protected areas deliver their
full conservation, social and economic potential.
