This Issue: Tracking Human Activities Using GPS and Some Other Good Things.

BUT FIRST, WON'T YOU PLEASE HELP? Mohammed Irshad Ahmed writes: "Please help me on the issues related to IPR (Intellectual Property rights) in the field of Remote sensing and GIS. How this is handled in real life? If you can help Mohammed, please contact him at Irshad@CGIAR.ORG.

TRACKING HUMAN ACTIVITIES USING GPS In August, Innocent Wanyonyi wrote "I am working on my GIS related research project with fishermen tracking their movements with GPS, this is for my thesis work. Do you have relevant literature i can refer to on this? I have seen a lot about tracking wildlife but nothing on tracking human beings activities??" Here are some sites that may be of interest. If you have any additional information that can help, please contact Innocent at innocent_ke@yahoo.com.

Remote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation – This is a new journal that is welcoming articles. The journal will provide a forum for the rapid publication of novel, multidisciplinary research at the interface between remote sensing science and ecology and conservation. Remote sensing is defined in its broadest sense, including data acquisition by handheld and fixed ground-based sensors, such as camera traps and acoustic recorders, and sensors on airplanes and satellites. The Journal will prioritize findings that advance the scientific basis of ecology and conservation, and promote the development of remote-sensing based methods relevant to the management of land use and biological systems at all levels, from populations and species to ecosystems and biomes. Information about the journal and links for manuscript submissions can be found at http://remote-sensing-biodiversity.org/82-remotesensing/149-rsec-journal. From Ned Horning, Applied GIS RS List.
